Ana Ivanovich Rolex Oyster Perpetual

Ana Ivanovic and her Rolex Oyster Perpetual

World ceded tennis player Ana Ivanovic wears the Rolex Oyster Perpetual – a simply flawless work of art from the masters of horology. Rolex has been the official timekeepers of Wimbledon since 1978, so it only natural to find many of tennis’ most prodigious players enjoying this brand on their wrists.

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is a cleanly designed timepiece offered in 904L stainless steel, bimetal, and precious metals. The case design is sporty and featuring both polished and satin finishes. The Oyster Perpetual gains much of its fame from the Oyster case, which was once considered to be waterproof. Today, the case protects this model from 100 meters (330 feet) of water pressure. Rolex attains this by producing the case from a single block of metal and a screw locked crown and a screwed on case back. Completing this watch is a three-piece bracelet system that ends in folding clasp with a safety feature.

The dial of the watch featured is white with blued Roman numeral indexes, the exceptions are at the 3, 6, and 9 positions where they are satin finished. At the 12 position is the famous Rolex emblem, which is also brushed. The uncluttered layout of the dial is perfect for quick on-the-go readings of the time. The hands feature lume for the reading of the time at night. What is missing, in my opinion, is a date function on this ladies’ watch. On the flange is a modest minute/second scale.

Like most other Rolexes, the Oyster Perpetual is fitted with a self-winding mechanical movement. Even by today’s standards there aren’t many ladies’ watches with automatic movements. Rolex defies the norm to present their watches with these magnificent calibers. The movement used in this model is certified a chronometer by the COSC. COSC certification is among the highest accolades offered in contemporary horology.
