The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Limited Edition

Omega has released an ultra-exclusive model this year equipped with a cutting edge innovation that is poised to revolutionize the aesthetics of many of their watches to come. Omega starts this process with a 5 axis laser which outlines the shape of the diamond to great precision. Then the Liquidmetal alloy is poured into the cavity. Liquidmetal is actually a form of platinum with a purity of 850 parts of one thousand. This technique allows gems to be securely set into hard bodies like 950 platinum and ceramic. This groundbreaking model is produced in only 8 examples worldwide.

This Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Limited Edition is made with a case diameter of 43.5mm with a brushed and polished finish. The bezel is made from black ceramic, which is virtually scratch proof. The bidirectional bezel features a GMT scale where Omega inserts 12 baguette cut diamonds and a round brilliant stone at the 12 position. There are also 69 trapezoidal baguettes set into the slant edges of the case. On the sapphire crystal case back is a further 31 round cut diamonds set into it making the shape of Omega’s logo. Naturally, with a watch of this pedigree, Omega uses only the finest diamonds available. The total weight of the diamonds on this watch is 2.96 carats.

In keeping with the style and form of the Seamaster, a helium release valve occupies the 10 position on the case. This model features a water resistance of 600 meters or 2000 feet, perfect for any activity land based or aquatic. Though this watch comes with a black leather strap with grey contrast stitching, Omega also provides a black rubber strap which can be interchanged with a special tool which Omega also furnishes. Both strap options are fastened using clasps made from platinum.

The dial is all black with rhodium toned hands and hour markers. At the 6, 9, and 12 positions are Arabic numerals. Both the hour and minute hands feature Super-LumiNova for the readability of the time at night. At the 3 position is a neat aperture displaying the date. The second time zone is indicated using a central hand.

Driving this watch is a self-winding mechanical movement caliber 8615 fitted with the famous Co-Axial escapement. This movement also carries the Si14 balance spring used due to its non-ferromagnetic properties. This model is also a COSC certified chronometer. Like all watches with the Co-Axial escapement, this model is protected by a 4 year international guarantee. Upon purchase, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal Limited Edition in platinum is presented in a gorgeous wooden box.
