Longines is known the world around for their participation in the Olympics, particularly in gymnastics; and in horse racing. It is the sport of kings that the Longines Conquest Classic takes its inspiration. The Conquest Classic series is one of the brand’s most aesthetically pleasing designs to date with its smooth lines and delightfully easy-to-read dial.
Longines offers this watch in three distinct variations for both men and women: 18k rose gold, bimetal (stainless steel and rose gold), and stainless steel. The gent’s version comes in a 41mm case diameter, while the lady’s version is sized at 29.5mm. The ladies version is offered with or without diamonds on the bezel. The case back on all models is made from transparent sapphire crystal which reveals a stunningly decorated movement.
The movement used in the gent’s version is the L688, whereas the movement powering the lady’s version is the L595. Both movements are mechanical self-winding with approximately 52 hours of power reserve. The movements beat at a constant 28,800vph ensuring that these watches keep precise time.
The gent’s version features a chronograph equipped with a central 60 seconds hand, a 30 minute register at 3, and a 12 hour counter at 6. At 9 o’clock is a small seconds subdial. The dial is striated reminiscent of a race track on the Conquest Classic. The hour markers are applied and come in either rose gold tone or rhodium color depending on the version all indexes are coated with Super-LumiNova. The Arabic numeral 12 is featured adding balance to the dial. The main crown and chronograph pushers are rose gold toned in the bimetal and solid 18kt editions. Completing the dial is a date aperture at the 4:30 position.
The triple link bracelet is brushed and polished on the steel and bimetal references while the 18kt gold version is fitted with a black alligator leather strap. Triple deployant clasps are used to secure these watches. Triple deployant clasps are the most secure clasps in the industry. These timepieces are water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet).
