The F.P. Journe 10 Years Anniversary Tourbillon

This timepiece from world renowned watch manufacturer F.P. Journe capitalizes on the 10th anniversary of their boutique in Tokyo, Japan and on the opening of their 10th boutique in Beirut. Such a meeting of numbers has prompted this esteemed watchmaker to produce a watch that honors the number 10. As one might expect, the F.P. Journe 10 years Anniversary Tourbillon is produced in a very exclusive collection of just 10 pieces worldwide. Basically, that equates to 1 watch per boutique.

What is interesting is that the 10 boutiques have put together a pool of candidates and each watch will be offered to 10 lucky F.P. Journe collectors. Last year, Journe celebrated 30 years of making watches, where they have produced some of the most sought after and respected pieces in Swiss watchmaking.

Unlike most every other tourbillon movement out there, F.P. Journe places the tourbillon on the reverse side of the movement so that it is only visible through the exhibition sapphire case back. The movement also differs because it is manufactured in 18kt rose gold. The 10 years tourbillon or T10’s movement  (T standing for Tokyo) is fitted with large blued steel screws, which decorate the bridges.

The case is made of platinum and is polished to a wonderful, gleaming finish. The dial is crafted from silver with a blackened central region where the hour, minutes, and small seconds reside. The time is indicated using the sophistication of Breguet styled hands. The markers for the hours are rendered as Roman numerals, while the seconds located at 6 uses Arabic numerals in intervals of tens. These elements are all held in place by a stainless steel ring.
