Roger Dubuis is known for their ability to create new and exciting timepieces usually full of innovations and interpretations of old concepts. The Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon is perhaps the single brightest highlight from Roger Dubuis’ SIHH releases. This model can only be found at Roger Dubuis Boutiques and is being made in a limited edition of 88 pieces.
The centerpiece of the Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon is, in fact, the movement – the RD102. The RD102 is hand wound mechanical movement that is hand made in 18kt pink gold matching the 18kt pink gold dial. The movement is comprised of 452 hand finished components. 360 of these components meet the Poincon de Geneva standards. The movement also undergoes a full 6 weeks of testing. In total, the RD102 takes over 1200 hours to manufacture. There is about 50 hours of power reserve and 52 jewels on this model.
The dial features charcoal grey applied Roman numeral hour markers from the 9 position to the 3 position. The double flying tourbillon apertures are located at the 5 and 7 positions. Flying tourbillons are the step up from regular tourbillons. The difference between the two varietals is that the carriage is not secured on the flying tourbillon. The dual tourbillons are rhodium toned which stand out really well against the pink gold dial.
The dial features a hand finished guilloche ‘rays of the sun’ pattern. The hands are dauphine shaped and are pink gold toned with luminescence for nighttime readability. On the flange is a very conservative minute track rendered in black markings. At the 6 o’clock position is the Poincon de Genève hall mark. Roger Dubuis boasts that all of their watches carry this esteemed certification.
The case is also made from 18kt pink gold and is polished to perfection. The Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon is outfitted with a fully adjustable black alligator strap with black complementary stitching. Securing this watch is a pink gold folding clasp. The case carries dimensions of 45mm excluding the crown. The sapphire crystal case back carries the metallised signature of Mr. Roger Dubuis.
