Cuervo Y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill

It's Havana Time With The Cuervo Y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill

Despite being deeply rooted the Cuban capital Havana, Cuervo Y Sobrinos, a brand founded back in 1882, has always made its timepieces in Switzerland. Cuervo Y Sobrinos even has its own manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, which is a cradle of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Faithful to its historical traditions, Cuervo Y Sobrinos still produces watches inspired by the old designs, in the decorative style of Art Nouveau. Their watches are extremely elegant, but with a spontaneous sporty touch, evoking the spiritual atmosphere of the Belle Époque, in which the company was founded, a period of peace, prosperity, and joie de vivre.

The Robusto line by Cuervo Y Sobrinos is aimed at the 21st century man, while its round lines symbolize the dynamism of an urban cosmopolitan. The latest piece to join the upbeat Robusto line is the Churchill, a unique model designed to honor the Right Honorable Statesman Winston Churchill. Churchill, who was rarely seen without a cigar, is still remembered as a great cigar aficionado. A large cigar size was even named after him, and he has been recognized as a person who invented the habit of soaking a cigar in port wine or brandy. Churchill discovered his passion for cigar smoking while he was in the Caribbean. He arrived in Havana in November 1895, and soon became one of the regular clients of the Cuervo y Sobrinos boutique in La Habana. The rough but stylish Robusto Churchill watch is a beautiful tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, and yet another of Cuervo Y Sobrinos models that makes people dream about the bygone times…

The original Robusto Churchill model by Cuervo y Sobrinos (2810.1IC) comes with an interesting ivory dial, adorned with craquelé decorative effect, a pattern of cracks formed on its surface. The 43mm-wide case is made of stainless steel, and it features two lateral segments made of titanium. This version of the watch is issued in a limited edition of only 200 pieces, with individual number of each piece printed on its dial. More recently, the brand has introduced the Robusto Churchill in white gold (2810.1BC), which comes with a pure white dial, blue hands and numerals, and mounted on a blue alligator strap. Both variants are powered by the automatic ETA 2834-2 movement, which runs on 38 hours of power reserve and provides information on hours, minutes, seconds, date and day of the week. Thanks to its case equipped with a key instead of a classic crown, Cuervo Y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill is protected against the ingress of water to up to 100 meters. The watch is fitted with a see-through case back with Winston Churchill’s outline printed on the crystal. The recommended retail price for the Robusto Churchill limited edition is CHF 3.500.
