ArtyA Son of Sound Black

ArtyA Son of Sound in Black PVD Stainless Steel

If you are a fashionable person with a unique taste, the chance is good that you have already heard of Yvan Arpa. He is a rock and roll enthusiast, and a rare breed of designer who just likes to design things for the sake of artistic purity, and for the creation of aesthetic beauty. A few years back he founded ArtyA, a Swiss watch company that has already established itself as a maker of some unique, yet contemporary timepieces.

After getting mixed success and some rave reviews for their watch lines – Son of Earth, and Son of a Gun, ArtyA turned their focus into music. In 2013 Baselworld, they showcased one of their most powerful designs to date – the Son of Sound collection.

ArtyA Son of Sound Black

The black edition of the Son of Sound line is made to look like a head of a guitar. It looks so real that one almost feels like touching the four decorative strings on the dial. With the musical notation engraved into the dial and the 4 string pegs on either side of the case, it stands as one of the most realistic guitar themed watches that perhaps has ever been created. The dial is black and it features a vertically brushed finish that mimics the woody grain of a real guitar.

The case is 37mm across, 49 mm tall, and is made of high grade 316L stainless steel with black PVD treatment. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. These watches are fitted with black crocodile leather straps, secured with pin buckle clasps.

The watch is not just a showpiece, but completely functional also. The ArtyA Son of Sound Black carries a bespoke, Swiss made, high end, automatic mechanical movement made by ArtyA Woodstock. The movement governs features such as jumping hours, and a date shown through apertures at the center of the dial. This timepiece also features a fully functioning chronograph. This watch maintains a power reserve of up to 48 hours.<h/3>
