Arnold & Son Time Pyramid - Now in Stainless Steel

Last year, Arnold & Son presented the Time Pyramid. This watch was only produced in 18kt gold, but this year, due to that watch’s exceptional reception the brand has opted to release it in stainless steel in an effort to make it more accessible. The Arnold & Son Time Pyramid is a breathtakingly stunning skeleton watch. From the dial side, the movement is completely symmetrical – that feat has never been achieved in watchmaking.

The choice to case this watch in steel has been both hailed and hated, with many purists believing that a watch of this caliber should be exclusively made in precious metals, while most others, including myself, take the stance that a more accessibly priced watch benefits the average guy that wants a nice timepiece on his wrist. In either case, you do pay for what you get – and with the Arnold & Son Time Pyramid, you get excellence.

Like the gold version, this iteration of the Time Pyramid features a case diameter of 44.6mm. Maintaining the watch’s almost perfect symmetry, the flattened, textured main crown is located at the 6 position between the lugs. Both the dial covering and the case back use scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which have been glare-proofed on both sides. This timepiece is fitted with a hand sewn black alligator leather strap. Water resistance on this Arnold & Son timepiece stands at 30 meters, so excessive contact with water is not advised.

The movement is the hand wound A&S1615, which boasts a power reserve of 90 hours. This amount of power reserve is attained through the usage of twin barrels. Each barrel has a respective power reserve indicator on the dial at the 9 and 3 positions in retrograde format. Due to the movement being only 4.4mm, this timepiece wears quite flat on the wrist. The movement is hued grey with blued steel screws and a gold toned balance wheel. Arnold & Son decorates the bridges with a selection of finishes including chamfering, beveling, Côtes de Genève, and circular satin finishing. The hands that indicate the time are blued steel with luminous elements for optimum legibility during all conditions.
